JANE MARLOW

FILM

In 2017, I started to follow my ambition to become a writer director and teamed up with long-term friend and filmmaker Nick Swannell to produce and direct DANCING ALONE in February 2017. The 15 minute short film won Best British Drama and, having resurrected my acting career after a break of 20 years, I also won Best Actor at the Discover Film Awards in October that year. DANCING ALONE is being distributed by Gonella Productions.

Virginia Orr joined our team to produce our second short film, TAKE ME BACK, in February 2018. I wrote the script, co-directed the film and also took the lead role. The film is now being submitted to film festivals and has won Best Editing laurels at the London Independent Film Awards and has been selected for the Catfish Shorts Film Festival in London. I am developing feature projects as well as working on a solo short film shooting in Dorset in summer 2019.

We are preparing to shoot the pilot of a new short-form drama, THEY THEM US in London November 2019.

She hates them actually, but it’s her way of keeping close to her partner Tina, who died suddenly nine months ago. When Jennifer finally completes the puzzle it’s a breakthrough moment, but to be in the running to win the prize her entry has to be in the post box - old-school, hardcopy - by the end of the day. Will it be the impetus she needs to confront her grief and finally leave the house where she’s been cocooned with her memories?
